Treatment Sixteen
Written by Alyssa.
Mom’s treatment today went mostly well. Mom said that it felt like a bit of an ordeal to get back into theswing of going for weekly treatments again. Today’s treatment was both Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy. The nurse who gave Mom the Immunotherapy shot today gave it to her quickly, which was very painful for Mom. That definitely made getting treatment a little more difficult.
Mom’s cold has improved quite a bit this past week. While she is still experiencing exhaustion and a bit of a lingering cough, she isn’t experiencing shortness of breath as she did before. Praise God for the healing that has taken place!
We can see in Mom’s blood work the level of stress that was put on Mom’s heart while she was sick. December 14th was when she went to the hospital and the Troponin marker shows the stress level of her heart at that time. Thankfully, this number has gone down as she has recovered.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray that Mom continues to recover from her bout of the flu.
Praise God for the healing that has taken place.
Pray that Mom continues to respond well to her treatments.
“We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
“Your suffering isn’t purposeless, impersonal pain that robs you of what’s good. It’s a tool picked up by a saviour of wisdom, love, and grace to produce wonderful things in and through you that you could never produce on your own. In your pain he proves that he’s near and working to take what’s discouragingly painful and intolerably hard and produce out of it a harvest of good things. He works so that your faith and hope will blossom, your character will change and mature, and your willingness and ability to minister to others will increase. He isn’t emptying you of good things but using hardship to fill you with the good things that only his grace can produce.
So you can say with hope and joy, even while you acknowledge the pain of suffering and loss, “Yes, there is purpose in my suffering, because God takes it as a tool in his hands to do things in and through me, things that are profoundly valuable and eternally good-so good that he’s willing to take me to hard places to deliver these treasures.” In your suffering, run, run, run, to the comfort of God’s purpose.” Quote from the book Suffering by Paul David Tripp
